Senior Strategic Buyer – Capital Projects

About the role

Celgard, a leader in high‑performance membrane technology, is looking for a Senior Strategic Buyer to join its procurement team in Charlotte, NC. The role focuses on CAPEX procurement while also handling direct and indirect material purchases to support U.S. manufacturing sites.

Key responsibilities

• Procure equipment, services, and both direct and indirect materials for Celgard U.S. sites following strategic and transactional purchasing processes.
• Lead CAPEX project procurement, including supplier identification, RFQ/bid alignment, and cross‑functional execution to meet cost, schedule, and specification targets.
• Support project managers and engineers by developing timelines, tracking progress, and communicating status.
• Manage vendor relationships, qualification, audits, price and contract negotiations, and drive supplier development for cost, quality, and delivery improvements.
• Develop dual‑sourcing alternatives to mitigate risk and ensure supply continuity.

Required profile

• B.S. or B.A. in Business, Logistics, Purchasing, Materials Management or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of purchasing experience with a focus on CAPEX procurement; direct material purchasing a plus.
• CPIM or CPSM certification is a plus.
• Proven ability to work with cross‑functional global teams and strong negotiation capabilities.
