Senior Staff Technical Program Manager - Hivemind Enterprise

About the role

Shield AI, a venture-backed defense-tech company, is hiring a Senior Staff Technical Program Manager in San Diego. As Technical Program Manager you will own key parts of Hivemind Enterprise, a software development kit that lets Shield AI and third parties build unmanned systems and mission applications. You will work with sponsors, product managers, designers and a cross-functional engineering team to deliver on-time, on-quality software releases.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and deliver complex software releases for the Hivemind Enterprise platform
• Lead major initiatives building command and control interfaces for autonomous systems
• Work with engineering, product management, design and customer engagement teams
• Develop detailed project plans with timelines, milestones and resource allocation, keeping to budget and schedule
• Monitor progress, identify risks and put mitigation measures in place
• Keep stakeholders informed on status, challenges and accomplishments
• Improve project management processes, tools and methodologies, and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration
• Help make technical decisions and prioritize work through sound trade-offs

Required profile

• B.S. in Computer Science or a related field with 8+ years of experience in Program Management, Engineering Management or Software Engineering; other degrees accepted if experience is focused on enterprise software, AI or robotics testing
• Track record of delivering results, not just status updates
• Solid technical foundation in software development and optimization of the software development lifecycle
• Ability to judge efficiency and prioritize fixes using cost-benefit analysis
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills

Required skills

• Experience driving releases of complex software and integrated hardware/software systems
• Power user of Jira or other work management tools
• Preferred: advanced degree (CS or MBA), previous software developer or test engineer experience, PMP, Scrum Master or similar certification
