Senior Staff Electrical Systems Engineer

About the role

Join RV Tech, the joint venture of Rivian and Volkswagen Group, as the most senior individual contributor in the Electrical Systems Hardware Engineering group. You will shape the cross‑domain electrical architecture for US‑based programs and drive the multi‑year technology roadmap for software‑defined vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Define low‑ and high‑voltage power distribution, harness strategy, and electrical interface specifications.
• Set zonal topology strategy, determining ECU count, placement, and I/O allocation.
• Establish LV power architecture standards, including supply strategy, bus management, power modes, and fault handling.
• Own the multi‑year electrical technology roadmap, guide R&D, and make build‑buy‑partner decisions.
• Develop validation strategies across unit, SIL, HIL, and vehicle‑level testing and coordinate with partner OEM teams.
• Negotiate architecture positions across Rivian and Volkswagen programs and resolve complex cross‑domain issues.
• Set standards for schematic review, DFMEA, load and fault analysis, and ISO 26262 functional safety work products.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers and represent the electrical systems function in program reviews.

Required profile

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in electrical systems engineering for automotive or comparable complex embedded products.
• Proven ownership of electrical architecture across multiple domains through production.
• Deep expertise in LV/HV power systems, electrical distribution, and wiring harness design.
