Senior Solar Technician

About the role

The Senior Solar Technician leads field service activities for Carolina Solar Services, ensuring safe and timely operation and maintenance of utility‑scale solar facilities. This senior position combines hands‑on technical work, mentorship of junior staff, and direct client interaction.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair utility‑scale solar generators.
• Lead commissioning, quality‑assurance inspections, and preventative‑maintenance tasks.
• Prepare and submit detailed field service reports to operations and clients.
• Train and mentor junior technicians, promoting safe work practices.
• Perform vegetative maintenance and support on‑call schedules, including weekends and holidays.
• Travel overnight as needed and work occasional overtime.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Minimum 3 years field experience in utility solar PV or 6 years related experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Team‑oriented attitude with a focus on safety and staff development.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of OSHA 1910.269 standards.
• Familiarity with NFPA 70E requirements.
• Understanding of electrical theory and photovoltaic power generation.
• Experience with inverter systems and OEM‑certified training.
• Commissioning and preventive‑maintenance expertise.
• General computer, network, and technology proficiency.
