Senior Research Associate – Imaging Mass Cytometer

About the role

The Texas A&M Institute for Genome Sciences & Society seeks a highly motivated Senior Research Associate to lead operation, maintenance, and user support of the Hyperion Imaging Mass Cytometer (IMC) within the Preclinical and Phenotyping Core.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on the Hyperion IMC and related core instruments.
• Develop, optimize, and validate laboratory protocols, SOPs, and workflows for imaging mass cytometry.
• Train faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students on instrument use and associated workflows.
• Provide technical consultation, troubleshooting, and ongoing support to core users.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, contribute to publications, grant proposals, and develop new assays.
• Manage core facility administration, including scheduling, inventory, billing, and budgeting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, biomedical sciences, engineering or related field.
• At least four years of relevant research or core‑facility experience with advanced imaging or mass‑spectrometry instrumentation.
• Strong organizational, troubleshooting and communication skills; ability to work independently in a shared research environment.

Required skills

• Hyperion Imaging Mass Cytometer (IMC) operation and maintenance.
• Imaging Mass Cytometry, CyTOF, and mass‑spectrometry techniques.
• Tissue preparation, immunohistochemistry, and antibody panel development.
• IMC data processing and image‑analysis software.
• Development of SOPs, user training materials, and quality‑control procedures.
