About the role

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Department of Theatre Arts is seeking a Senior Research Assistant to serve as Technical Director for a twelve‑month appointment. The role supports the department’s expanding production schedule and provides hands‑on technical leadership for student‑centered theatre productions.

Key responsibilities

• Implement scenic designs for departmental productions, ensuring artistic vision and safety standards.
• Teach and mentor students in technical theatre disciplines, including set construction, lighting, and rigging.
• Manage the scene shop, its equipment inventory, and maintenance schedules.
• Oversee theatre spaces, coordinating load‑in, load‑out, and technical rehearsals.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop innovative production solutions.

Required profile

• Graduate‑level experience in technical theatre or related field.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team and train students.
