Senior Regulatory Engineer

About the role

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies are seeking a Senior Regulatory Engineer to bridge software development and global vehicle regulations. You will ensure that next‑generation AI‑driven vehicles comply with every market’s standards while supporting a unified software architecture across programs.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end regulatory view for a dedicated domain, from requirement intake through validation testing and sign‑off.
• Act as the regulatory subject‑matter expert, guiding engineering and homologation teams on requirement interpretation and applicability.
• Collaborate with software and systems engineers to embed regulatory requirements early in the design process.
• Author and maintain Homologation Design Validation Plans, define test campaigns, and coordinate execution with internal and external facilities.
• Oversee regulation‑to‑code traceability, manage compliance documentation, and compile evidence for certification agencies.
• Assess regulatory impact of software changes, create change evidence, and provide independent homologation review for releases.
• Contribute to initiatives that improve scalability and quality of homologation across multiple programs and markets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in automotive product certification, safety, or homologation.
• Demonstrated expertise in at least one major vehicle regulation domain.
