About the role
Sierra is seeking a Senior Privacy Counsel to join its growing legal team. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Product and Privacy, you will shape and execute privacy and AI‑regulatory strategies for a fast‑scaling AI platform serving global enterprise customers.
Key responsibilities
- Advise product, engineering, operations, marketing and other teams on compliance with global privacy laws and AI‑related regulations such as GDPR, the EU AI Act and DORA.
- Build and own Sierra’s privacy counseling and compliance program as the business scales globally, including developing industry‑specific expertise for healthcare, insurance, banking and telecommunications.
- Draft, review and negotiate data processing agreements, business associate agreements and other privacy‑related contractual provisions for commercial transactions.
- Manage privacy incident response processes, notifications and related compliance obligations.
- Develop training materials and deliver privacy and AI‑governance training to product and business teams.
- Monitor emerging AI‑specific privacy regulations, advise leadership on risks and represent Sierra with regulators and industry groups.
Required profile
- 8+ years of legal experience, including time at a large international law firm and in‑house at a technology company.
- Deep knowledge of global privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, US state privacy statutes) and AI regulatory frameworks (EU AI Act, NIST AI Risk Management Framework).
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating DPAs, BAAs and other privacy‑related commercial terms.
- Experience building privacy programs in regulated industries such as healthcare or financial services.
- Strong analytical ability to assess privacy risks and implement compliance solutions in a fast‑moving, hyperscaling environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to partner with both legal and non‑legal stakeholders.
