Senior People Business Partner
savvy · New York
Job description
About the role
We are looking for a Senior People Business Partner to build and lead the People Business Partner function at Savvy, a fast‑growing fintech focused on wealth management. As our first dedicated PBP you will work directly with business leaders to shape talent decisions, design organisations and coach managers as the company scales.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with business leaders and managers to advise on team health, performance, organisational effectiveness and employee issues.
- Raise the quality and consistency of performance and talent management, including calibration, promotions, succession planning, compensation decisions and performance improvement plans.
- Coach managers through difficult conversations, feedback, delegation and accountability, and identify capability gaps.
- Diagnose organisational risk using employee feedback, performance data and observation to prevent regrettable attrition.
- Drive execution of core People programs such as performance reviews, talent planning, engagement initiatives and workforce planning.
- Support reorganisations, employee‑relations investigations, retention strategies, leadership transitions and compensation discussions.
- Analyse people data to spot trends in performance, engagement and retention and inform leadership decisions.
Required profile
- Experience as an HR/People Business Partner supporting leaders in a fast‑growing startup.
- Strong business and organisational judgement, able to distinguish people problems from performance or design issues.
- Proven ability to build credibility quickly, deliver difficult feedback and influence decisions without formal authority.
- High talent bar with comfort making clear calls on performance, potential and succession while balancing empathy and accountability.
- Bias toward proactively identifying and resolving issues rather than merely administering processes.
- Comfort operating in an ambiguous, fast‑moving environment and shifting between strategic and tactical work.
- Fluent with AI tools for research and decision support, knowing when to trust versus verify AI output.
What we offer
- Competitive salary and equity package.
- Unlimited PTO plus paid company holidays.
- Comprehensive medical, dental and vision plans, 401(k), commuter and HSA/FSA options.
- NYC office in Manhattan with lunch and snacks provided.
- Access to virtual mental‑health care, health concierge and a wide‑range employee assistance program.
