Senior Optical Subject Matter Expert Lead

About the role

Competitive Range Solutions seeks a Senior Optical Subject Matter Expert to lead optical telecommunication efforts for Federal Defense customers. The role involves overseeing installation, turn‑up, testing, and activation of optical hardware across multiple sites, both onsite and remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and supervise optical installation teams, ensuring successful project completion and providing training as needed.
• Design and develop network architecture, security, reliability, and business continuity plans for classified Defense networks.
• Perform advanced optical testing (OTDR, PMD, CD, BERT) and generate detailed analysis reports.
• Configure and provision DWDM equipment, including Ciena 6500 platforms, and manage DCN Suite, CryptoIPMS, MPLS, and SDN solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience leading technical efforts in optical network environments.
• At least 4 years of hands‑on experience with Ciena DWDM platforms.
• U.S. citizenship with a current Secret clearance and eligibility for Top‑Secret.
• Ability to travel 20‑60% and lift up to 50 lb.
