Senior Network / Systems Engineer

About the role

Amentum/Secure Networking Solutions is seeking a Senior Network / Systems Engineer to maintain the design and integrity of program systems and to oversee the program's Wireless Intrusion Detection System (WIDS). The engineer builds scripts, gives expert technical assistance to team members and builds and patches Linux and Windows servers. The position is contingent on contract award, business needs, security clearance verification and funding availability, and runs Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy functional servers on Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Maintain system compliance with cybersecurity standards and practices, and monitor system performance and integrity.
• Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness.
• Create, oversee and test security measures such as access authentication and disaster recovery.
• Communicate with users when needed and maintain complete technical documentation.
• Suggest improvements to performance, capacity and scalability.
• Install systems in CONUS and potentially OCONUS locations as directed by the project manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Systems Engineering or another computer or information technology field; 5-7 years of experience with a bachelor's, 3-5 with a master's, or 1-2 with a PhD.
• Ability to write clear, concise technical and training manuals, including documents required for A&A in accordance with ICD 503.
• TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph; ability to travel worldwide.
• Office setting, but may need to install sensors and cabling using ladders and lifting up to 20 pounds.

Required skills

• Windows administration and Active Directory administration.
• Administrative scripting languages.
• Multi-domain operating system integration, deployment, troubleshooting and maintenance.
• LAN/WAN technologies, routers, switches, firewalls, SAN, clustering and backup technologies.
• Tier 3 operational maintenance of audit systems, including system engineering, administration, database management, backup administration, change management, policy creation and certification and accreditation procedures.
• ND 50-05 certification for assigned tasks.
