Senior Medical Science Liaison, Rheumatology

About the role

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will serve as the field‑based scientific expert for Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines in the Rheumatology therapeutic area, covering a multi‑state territory. The role focuses on building scientific relationships, delivering balanced medical information, and supporting investigator‑initiated research.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a scientific engagement plan aligned with Medical Affairs strategy and core assets.
• Engage in two‑way scientific exchange with KOLs and HCPs, identifying trends, unmet needs and educational gaps.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with community and academic HCPs/KOLs to enhance scientific credibility.
• Utilize insights and MSL tools, including AI‑driven analytics, to shape customer engagements and uncover opportunities.
• Provide tailored scientific education and data presentations that translate complex clinical evidence into clear discussions.
• Collect and submit high‑quality actionable insights to inform medical strategy and asset planning.
• Support investigator‑initiated studies by connecting investigators with internal research and grant processes.
• Respond promptly to unsolicited research or clinical inquiries with objective, compliant information.

Required profile

• Doctorate‑level degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent) with post‑graduate therapeutic clinical experience.
• Minimum 2 + years of successful MSL experience in a relevant therapeutic area.
• Strong scientific acumen, research and data analysis skills, and ability to communicate complex data.
• Willingness to travel up to 70 % of the time within the assigned territory.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross‑functionally in a matrixed organization.
