Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer

About the role

Matrix Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer for its Indianapolis office. This salaried position includes overtime eligibility and requires an active Professional Engineer (PE) license. The role combines technical leadership, client interaction, and department development.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyze HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial and industrial projects, including load calculations, energy modeling, and system optimization.
• Interface with clients, vendors, and contractors to develop construction documents, specifications, and equipment selections.
• Lead project teams, delegate work, mentor staff, and ensure compliance with local building and energy codes.
• Support business development by maintaining client relationships and identifying new work opportunities.

Required profile

• Active Professional Engineer license.
• Six+ years of experience in mechanical engineering focusing on HVAC and plumbing design.
• Experience leading teams or projects in a commercial/industrial setting.
• Ability to travel up to 10% and a valid driver’s license.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE codes for comfort cooling, ventilation, and dust collection.
• Expertise in load calculations, energy modeling, and system optimization.
• Familiarity with LEED and green building practices (preferred).
