Senior Mechanical Engineer, Process Equipment

About the role

The Fuel Cycle and Blanket Development team is expanding to deliver R&D and pilot‑scale molten‑salt (FLiBe) systems for fusion. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will drive the design and delivery of high‑temperature process equipment, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to meet ambitious technical targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the design of fluid process systems for testing at varying scales.
• Develop specifications and designs of high‑temperature molten‑salt process equipment, including vessels, tanks, valves, pumps and piping systems.
• Act as technical lead interfacing with suppliers and construction teams to procure, install and commission equipment.
• Support mechanical reliability of fixed equipment and collaborate on pipe‑stress evaluations.
• Track project milestones and report progress across the organization.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of experience designing ASME‑coded process equipment and piping systems.
• Deep knowledge of ASME BPVC, B31.3 and related codes (Section I, Section VIII, API 510/570/579).
• Experience with high‑temperature, corrosive fluid service and industrial‑scale fixed equipment.
• Proven ability to manage external partners, suppliers and construction teams.
