Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Robot Cladding & A-Class Surfaces

About the role

Rhoda AI is developing next‑generation generalist intelligent robots. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer you will own the full product lifecycle of the robot’s Class‑A surfaces, balancing aesthetics, structural integrity and manufacturability.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end product lifecycle from concept through to mass production, ensuring feasibility, sustainability and craftsmanship.
• Integrate cladding subsystems, defining design criteria, tolerance stacks and attachment strategies while balancing cost, time and aesthetic constraints.
• Produce high‑fidelity 3D CAD models (CATIA preferred) and detailed 2D drawings with comprehensive GD&T and datum strategies.
• Interpret FEA and Moldflow analyses, iterate designs, and lead validation and prototyping activities.
• Partner with supply‑chain and Tier‑1/2 suppliers for RFQs, technical feasibility reviews and issue resolution.

Required profile

• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience with at least one full‑cycle product launch.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
• Deep expertise in thin‑walled component design and/or high‑performance composites.
• Strong owner‑mindset, first‑principles thinking and ability to solve technical bottlenecks under tight timelines.

Required skills

• CATIA (or equivalent 3D CAD) modeling and 2D drawing creation.
• GD&T definition and tolerance management.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) interpretation.
• Moldflow or similar injection‑molding simulation.
• Knowledge of thin‑walled design, high‑performance composites, and advanced manufacturing processes (injection molding, RIM, vacuum forming, thermoforming).
