Senior Manager, Maintenance & Reliability

About the role

Vulcan Elements manufactures American rare‑earth permanent magnets for defense, aerospace and automotive sectors. The Senior Manager will establish a brand‑new maintenance program, work‑management system, CMMS and ERP platforms, spare‑parts strategy and reliability practices before plant startup, and then lead the team that operates them.

Key responsibilities

• Design and document the maintenance management system, including work‑identification workflow, performance standards and governance.
• Configure and deploy a CMMS and ERP maintenance environment, covering asset hierarchy, master data, PM library, inventory and cost capture.
• Develop a criticality‑based preventive and predictive maintenance program and oversee Mechanical Integrity for PSM‑covered equipment.
• Stand up a central storeroom, spare‑parts strategy and MRO inventory management.
• Build and train a specialty trades pool and craft certification program.
• Own safety performance, operating budget and equipment availability, and manage contract service providers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering or equivalent technical education.
• 10+ years of industrial maintenance and reliability experience, with at least 5 years leading maintenance organizations in a 24/7 process environment.
• Hands‑on experience configuring and deploying ERP/CMMS modules such as SAP PM/MM, Oracle EAM, Maximo or Infor EAM.
• Proven track record building a maintenance and reliability program from a greenfield or low‑maturity start point.
• Experience establishing spare‑parts and storeroom programs based on asset criticality.
• Direct accountability for maintenance safety programs and operating budget.
• U.S. Person status required for access to export‑controlled information.

• CMMS platforms: SAP PM/MM, Oracle EAM, Maximo, Infor EAM.
• ERP maintenance and MRO modules configuration and integration.
• Asset hierarchy design, PM library creation and failure taxonomy development.
• Predictive maintenance techniques: vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasound, motor testing.
• Reliability engineering tools: FMEA, root‑cause analysis, criticality ranking.
