Manager, Production Controls

About the role

Vulcan Elements is building a new production‑controls organization for its rare‑earth magnet plant in Benson. The Manager will design material flow, configure ERP/WMS systems and lead the inbound, WIP and outbound logistics teams from construction through ramp‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Design end‑to‑end material flow and plant layout, including bulk chemical handling, WIP staging and finished‑goods packaging.
• Configure and deploy ERP and warehouse‑management system master data, lot genealogy, barcode/RFID labeling and ERP‑MES integration.
• Own inbound receiving, hazardous‑material compliance, WIP movement, outbound shipping and export documentation for magnetized products.
• Establish inventory control processes such as cycle counting, physical inventory, safety stock strategy and demand‑driven material planning.
• Recruit, train and certify the material‑handling workforce, and manage safety, budget and performance metrics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 8+ years of manufacturing materials management experience, including at least 5 years leading multi‑shift material‑handling teams.
• Direct experience designing plant material flow and warehouse layout, preferably in a greenfield or major expansion project.
• Demonstrated ownership of ERP/WMS implementation and operating‑budget responsibility.
• U.S. Person status for access to export‑controlled information.

• ERP configuration (item, location, BOM master data).
• Warehouse Management System (WMS) setup and transaction flow design.
• Barcode and RFID labeling deployment.
• Inventory control techniques (cycle counting, lot traceability, safety stock).
• Hazardous material receiving, storage and shipping compliance.
