Senior Manager / Associate Director, IT

About the role

Nkarta, a publicly traded clinical‑stage biotechnology company, is seeking a hands‑on Senior Manager/Associate Director to lead its Information Technology function as it advances toward pivotal and Phase 3 trials. Reporting to the SVP, Head of Operations, you will own IT strategy, infrastructure, security, and compliance while supporting day‑to‑day operations.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute IT strategy, manage network, server, cloud, and end‑user computing infrastructure.
• Lead cybersecurity program, including endpoint protection, identity & access management, vulnerability management, security awareness training, and incident response.
• Ensure GxP‑regulated systems are validated and compliant with 21 CFR Part 11 and data‑integrity requirements.
• Administer core business and scientific applications such as Microsoft 365, ERP, lab systems, and eQMS.
• Manage IT budget, vendor contracts, software licensing, and oversee an outsourced IT consulting firm.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Clinical Operations, Quality, R&D, Finance, and HR to support trial and commercialization activities.

Required profile

• 10+ years progressive IT experience, with 3‑5 years leading an IT function.
• Experience in a clinical‑stage biotech or life‑science environment, understanding of GxP, CSV, and SOX controls.
• Hands‑on leader comfortable balancing strategic oversight with individual contributor tasks.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence across all organization levels.
