Senior Lead Software Engineer – Java, Cloud & Infrastructure

About the role

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer within JPMorganChase’s Capital Markets division, you will join an agile team that builds and enhances a next‑generation execution platform used by thousands of users worldwide. You will apply deep technical expertise to design, develop, and deliver secure, high‑performance Java services that run at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and direction to business teams, contractors, and vendors.
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code and services.
• Develop secure, high‑quality production code and perform code reviews and debugging.
• Drive adoption of AI‑assisted engineering practices, including AI‑guided code review, test acceleration, and release readiness.
• Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge to improve automation at scale.
• Influence product design, functionality, and operational processes as a subject‑matter expert.
• Ensure performance, quality, and responsiveness of high‑throughput, low‑latency applications.
• Identify bottlenecks, resolve bugs, and improve system resiliency and stability.
• Maintain code quality, organization, and automation (testing, CI/CD, deployment).
• Build and evolve distributed, event‑driven asynchronous systems and microservices using Spring Boot.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with at least 5 years of applied experience.
• Hands‑on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Proven experience leading the effective use of enterprise‑authorized AI‑assisted development tools and setting validation standards for AI outputs.
• Strong understanding of performance, security, and reliability requirements for high‑throughput applications.
