Senior IT Network Infrastructure & Private 5G Operations Specialist

About the role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft seeks a Senior IT Network Infrastructure & Private 5G Operations Specialist to lead high‑density fiber/copper network deployments and private 5G/edge compute infrastructure across North American sites, supporting mission‑critical data centers, manufacturing, and logistics.

Key responsibilities

• Design, validate, and oversee redundant physical network pathways, fiber/copper distribution, patch panels, and MDF/IDF layouts.
• Lead on‑site deployment projects, directing low‑voltage technicians and subcontractors, and ensuring QA/QC for OTDR testing, insertion loss, and labeling.
• Manage private 5G demand intake, feasibility, deployment prerequisites, and day‑to‑day operations including RF verification and troubleshooting.
• Act as strategic liaison between North American business units and the global Connectivity Product team, handling budgeting, vendor governance, and safety compliance.

Required profile

• 6+ years of hands‑on experience in structured cabling, optical fiber, and low‑voltage deployments in data‑center or industrial environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Fluent written and spoken English; German or French a plus.

Required skills

• Structured cabling, optical fiber testing (OTDR, power meters, VFL), link loss budgeting.
• Private 5G/LTE, Small Cells, indoor DAS, eCPRI/CPRI fronthaul, edge compute (MEC) interconnects.
• Hardware knowledge: PoE++, SFP/SFP+ transceivers, RRH/RU, RF jumper cabling.
• Network fundamentals: TCP/IP, OSI model, Ethernet, IP routing, VLANs, enterprise wireless standards.
