Senior Hardware Reliability Engineer

About the role

Rhoda AI is building generalist intelligent robots and needs a senior engineer to own hardware reliability as an engineering discipline. You will translate platform requirements into mission profiles and design accelerated test plans that guide hardware development.

Key responsibilities

• Decompose platform and subsystem requirements into mission profiles that define duty cycles, load spectra, and environmental exposures for real‑world use.
• Translate mission profiles into accelerated test plans (HALT/HASS, thermal cycling, vibration, fatigue) with appropriate acceleration factors, sample sizes, and pass/fail criteria.
• Develop and maintain FMEA/FMECA analyses, drive design changes to eliminate failure modes before hardware production.
• Apply quantitative reliability methods (Weibull, MTBF/MTTF, censored‑data survival analysis, physics‑of‑failure models) to test and field data.
• Partner with actuator, electrical, and structures engineers to close the loop from test failure to root‑cause to design fix.
• Build reliability data infrastructure and reporting to track trends as the platform scales.

Required profile

• 5+ years of reliability engineering experience with ownership of mission‑profile development and accelerated test design.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Reliability Engineering or related field.
• Hands‑on experience with FMEA/FMECA, Weibull analysis, MTBF/MTTF modeling.
• Experience with electromechanical systems such as motors, actuators, and power electronics.

Required skills

• Mission‑profile and usage‑duty‑cycle modeling.
• Accelerated test planning (HALT/HASS, thermal cycling, vibration, fatigue).
• Reliability analysis methods: Arrhenius, Coffin‑Manson, inverse power law.
• Data analysis and scripting (Python or similar).
