Senior FPGA Hardware/Software Design Engineer

About the role

Amentum is seeking an experienced senior hardware/software design engineer to join a small team designing, developing, constructing and testing electronic hardware (FPGA) and software processing components for subsystems supporting RF communication and collection systems. The contractor leads technical design, implements DSP algorithms in FPGA hardware, integrates with existing Linux code bases, bridges the FPGA to the software stack and documents the work. The role combines FPGA RTL development, timing closure and resource optimization with integration code and system-level software.

Key responsibilities

• Implement DSP and associated technical components in FPGA for code-base integration
• Integrate FPGA code with existing code bases and software
• Develop FPGA RTL, close timing and optimize resources
• Write integration code and system-level software
• Document the design and integration efforts

Required profile

• Doctoral degree plus 4 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree plus 6 years, or Bachelor's degree plus 8 years
• TS/SCI poly security clearance required
• Preferred: additional Vivado experience, Epiq Solution PDK experience, container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker), penetration testing or red team experience, Splunk use, Nutanix experience, defensive cyber security operations
