Senior Field Service Engineer – Advanced Manufacturing Equipment

About the role

pro-beam is seeking an experienced Senior Field Service Engineer to own complex industrial machinery projects from installation through ongoing service across North America. The role combines hands‑on mechanical and electrical work with customer interaction and collaboration with engineering teams in Germany.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission, test and service complex industrial equipment at customer sites and the Lombard facility.
• Troubleshoot failures across electrical, mechanical, controls, motion and process components, including PLCs, HMIs, drives, motors, sensors and safety circuits.
• Perform mechanical adjustments, repairs, component replacements and preventive maintenance.
• Document service activities, technical findings and recommendations.
• Train customers and support other service personnel.
• Participate in technical training in Germany and develop expertise in electron‑beam, vacuum and high‑voltage technology.

Required profile

• Several years of hands‑on field service, commissioning or industrial equipment experience.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capabilities and ability to work independently.
• Comfortable traveling 50–80% across North America and internationally for training.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work directly with customers in demanding situations.

Required skills

• Reading electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• PLC‑controlled machinery experience, preferably Siemens/TIA Portal.
• Knowledge of drives, motors, sensors, motion systems and industrial communication networks.
• Understanding of machine safety systems and vacuum‑based equipment (plus).
