Senior Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Engineer

About the role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft seeks a Senior Structure Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Analysis Engineer to support the in‑service fleet in Wichita, Kansas. You will develop and justify repair solutions for metallic aircraft structures, ensuring airworthiness and timely delivery to airline customers.

Key responsibilities

• Create high‑quality, certified repair solutions for airlines and internal customers within defined timeframes.
• Perform complex fatigue and damage tolerance analyses using hand calculations and computer tools.
• Prepare structural justification and certification documentation for in‑service fleet support.
• Mentor less‑experienced engineers and ensure methods reflect ongoing developments.
• Collaborate with Design, Static Stress and other Airbus departments to optimise repair designs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or related engineering.
• Minimum 9 years of analysis experience in airframe design or repair programs.
• Experience with metallic (and optionally composite) structural repairs.
• Ability to work onsite (≈90% of the time) and travel on short notice.
• Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.

Required skills

• Fatigue analysis and damage tolerance methods.
• Hand‑calculation techniques and computer‑based analysis tools.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with G‑Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
• Basic coding skills in Python (preferred).
