About the role

As the Senior Engineering Manager at Clair, you will bridge rapid execution with sustainable scaling. You will lead a high‑performing engineering team, streamline cross‑functional workflows, and create an environment where engineers can ship product efficiently while maintaining quality.

Key responsibilities

• Drive efficiency across the engineering organization, ensuring strong shipping cadence with a lean team.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers through regular 1:1s, career development, and recognition.
• Align engineering with product, design, data, and care teams to eliminate silos and improve decision transparency.
• Identify bottlenecks, improve documentation standards, and implement lightweight processes that accelerate delivery.
• Monitor workloads to protect the team from burnout and maintain sustainable high‑quality output.
• Champion experimentation with AI and new tooling, encouraging engineer‑led initiatives beyond the core roadmap.
• Participate actively in hiring, sourcing and vetting mid‑senior to Staff‑level engineers to continuously raise technical and cultural standards.

Required profile

• 3–5+ years of direct engineering management experience, preferably in a fast‑growing Series B/C startup.
• Proven ability to thrive in ambiguous, rapidly shifting environments and build processes while scaling.
• Strong systems thinking and organizational skills to centralize information and streamline workflows.
• Technical credibility with a solid software engineering background to guide architecture and earn team respect.
• Empathetic leadership style that fosters psychological safety, open feedback, and personal growth.
