Senior Engineering Manager, Containers

About the role

Mirantis, an IREN company, is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead its development team. The team builds enterprise software that addresses operational, security and compliance challenges of managing cloud-native platforms such as Kubernetes, and provides integrated tools for running containerized workloads securely. The position is remote.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the long-term technical strategy and roadmap while maintaining high availability and robust software engineering practices, and drive improvements in system resilience, operational metrics and platform performance.
• Embed security best practices across the entire software development lifecycle, including secure integration and governance of AI technologies and agentic workflows, and champion security architecture, threat modeling, vulnerability management and secure coding.
• Hire, mentor and grow a high-performing engineering organization, build career progression paths and foster an inclusive culture.
• Partner with Product Management and executive leadership to balance feature delivery with technical debt reduction, system stability and security, using operational metrics and customer needs.
• Communicate with executives, enterprise customers and cross-functional teams, turning customer usage patterns and operational feedback into engineering priorities.
• Stay current on containerization and cloud-security trends and adopt modern tools and methodologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related field; software engineering, computer engineering or information technology degrees may also be suitable.
• Minimum of 7-10 years in software engineering, with experience leading or managing engineering teams in commercial software ecosystems.
• Demonstrated success in hiring, developing talent, setting technical vision and leading teams through complex deliverables.
• Excellent communication skills, including presenting technical information clearly and collaborating with stakeholders.
• Experience coaching, mentoring and managing engineering managers or team leads is a strong plus.

Required skills

• Strong technical depth in distributed systems and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Secure SDLC practices and operational metrics in enterprise production environments.
