Senior Embedded Software Engineer – BMS Drivers

About the role

Join the Platform Software team to architect, implement, and integrate battery management platform software across Rivian’s control boards. You will work on drivers, operating systems, middleware, and application frameworks that form the foundation of Rivian’s vehicle software.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and integrate the platform software layer for the battery management system, from initial bring‑up to customer shipment, including drivers, middleware, diagnostics and reactions.
• Design, develop and test safety‑critical diagnostics and reactions in collaboration with functional safety and system teams.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on design, schematics, and hardware validation.
• Work closely with cross‑functional teams such as Battery Applications, Controls, Test & Integration, and Battery Systems to ensure platform requirements are met.

Required profile

• 4+ years of embedded software/firmware development experience, preferably with vertically integrated consumer products.
• B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong C programming expertise.
• Experience with battery monitoring firmware and/or power electronics.
• Deep familiarity with Real‑Time Operating Systems (RTOS); safeRTOS is a plus.
• Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO‑26262).
• Proficiency in microcontroller development and hardware bring‑up.
• Experience with multi‑core automotive‑grade microcontrollers and live sensor input systems.
• Hands‑on debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, etc.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced development environment.
