Senior Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineer

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Senior Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineer to carry out engineering work on the evolution of E3 on naval ship architectures and systems. The role covers EMP research, analysis, assessment, testing and reporting, and requires an active Secret or Top Secret US government clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform EMP research, analysis, requirements definition and development, assessments, test and evaluation
• Assess the impact of E3/EMP on shipboard configurations and systems, including EMP risk and mission analysis, and assess High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) effects
• Develop technical and operational conclusions and write technical reports meeting sponsor requirements
• Plan and take part in MIL-STD 461 testing at the Naval Ordnance Transient Electromagnetic Simulator (NOTES) test facility
• Plan and take part in EMP testing for Low Level Continuous Wave (LLCW) technology demonstration, perform data acquisition and analysis, and refine LLCW SOPs

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific or technical discipline
• 12 years of demonstrated knowledge and subject-matter expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or Naval Architecture engineering
• 7 years of R&D, test, engineering or integration experience on warfare or electronic systems
• Demonstrated experience in one or more of: RF and microwave engineering, EMP, E3, EMI, EMC, E3 computation and RF simulation, or PCI shipboard testing
• Active Secret or Top Secret US government clearance (US citizenship required to hold Top Secret)
