Senior Director, Risk Management

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Senior Director of Risk Management in its Cumberland Parkway office. The role develops enterprise-wide strategy for assessing insured risks across all insurance lines, identifies the need for coverage and limits, sets risk transfer goals and determines how best to use the insurance market, self-insured retentions, deductibles, captive insurance programs and RMIS systems. It reports to the Vice President, Legal and has up to three direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• 40%: Develop, enhance and operationalize compliance policies and processes, ensuring compliance with insurance capital and regulatory requirements; partner with safety, legal and finance leaders on insurance programs; procure and use effective risk management systems.
• 30%: Lead and develop the ongoing management of the risk program, provide direction to the Risk Management department, act as lead contact for the insurance industry and brokers, and select, develop and motivate staff.
• 30%: Monitor and assess risk continuously, identify and evaluate insurable exposure, and balance insurance, self-insurance and captive utilization.

Required profile

• At least 10 years of work experience.
• Must be 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Preferred: business or risk management degree, and designations such as CPCU, ARM or AIC.
• Typical reporting line to the Vice President, Legal; up to 3 direct reports.

Travel is typically required 5% to 20% of the time, mostly overnight. The role is based indoors in a comfortable setting, with occasional need to move or lift light items.
