Job description
About the role
SailPoint is the leader in identity security for the cloud enterprise, with its Identity Security Cloud (Atlas) platform built on AI and machine learning. As a Senior DevOps Engineer on the Infrastructure Platform team, you will be a technical leader responsible for designing, building and operating SailPoint's global cloud infrastructure on AWS. You will partner with engineering teams across the US, India, EMEA and APAC to deliver a resilient, secure platform. The team owns all cloud infrastructure, compute and operational practices for a mission-critical, 24x7 SaaS environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design, operate and optimize production Kubernetes clusters at scale on AWS (EKS), including upgrades, node management, networking, storage and multi-tenant isolation.
- Define Kubernetes standards and best practices: workload design, resource management, security hardening (RBAC, Pod Security Standards, network policies), Helm/chart conventions and deployment patterns.
- Scale infrastructure to meet growing customer demand, data sovereignty requirements and regional expansion.
- Automate deployment, monitoring, incident response and capacity management using GitOps and CI/CD best practices.
- Develop operational practices, runbooks and platform engineering standards, and collaborate with development teams to bring features safely into production.
- Meet information security and compliance standards such as PCI DSS, support the PCI compliance initiative and help improve the on-call rotation and post-incident reviews.
Required profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience.
- 4+ years designing, implementing and operating a service mesh at scale in production Kubernetes environments.
- 7+ years in 24x7 production operations for highly available SaaS or cloud services.
- 7+ years with containerization, virtualization and configuration management technologies.
- Ability to work in an agile, entrepreneurial environment with global stakeholders and to influence engineers across teams and geographies.
Required skills
- 4+ years of hands-on Kubernetes experience at scale.
- 4+ years with Terraform (IaC) across multiple AWS accounts and regions.
- 4+ years designing CI/CD pipelines for Terraform, Kubernetes and microservices.
- 4+ years with Python, Go or similar, and strong shell scripting.
- Linux, networking, distributed systems and production troubleshooting.
- Monitoring and logging stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana and OpenSearch.
- Preferred: multi-cluster service mesh federation (Istio, Linkerd), and familiarity with PCI DSS and FedRAMP-adjacent compliance.
Work arrangement
- Fully remote for candidates based in the USA or Canada, eligible to work there and available for global collaboration.
- On-call rotation is required; about 10% travel to Austin, TX is anticipated.
- Compensation varies by location and employment type; the role may be eligible for a corporate bonus plan, commission and potential equity.
