Senior Design Coordinator – Industrial Architecture

About the role

HDR is seeking a Senior Design Coordinator to lead architectural design and documentation for industrial and institutional projects worldwide. You will work closely with owners, project architects, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver resilient, sustainable built environments.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, select, and apply architectural techniques and procedures to construction documents.
• Perform architectural assignments with general guidance from the Project Architect or Project Manager.
• Collaborate directly with owners/clients to recommend design procedures and solutions.
• Write specifications, conduct code reviews, and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Assist Project Architects and other coordinators across all phases of the architectural process.
• Take ownership of work quality from concept through construction documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience preparing details, specifications, and construction documents.
• Credentials that allow future registration as a licensed architect.
• Experience in healthcare, educational, civic, science, or research facilities; interest in sustainable design/LEED is a plus.
• Preference for candidates currently residing in the area.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Experience using SketchUp, 3‑D Studio Max, Rhino, and Grasshopper.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
