Senior Cybersecurity Analyst

About the role

Vensure Employer Solutions protects the systems holding payroll, benefits and personal data for employees of thousands of client businesses. As a Cybersecurity Analyst you will work with other IT and security professionals to monitor, analyze and respond to security incidents. The role suits someone early in a security career who wants real incident work rather than just dashboard monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously monitor network traffic, system logs, endpoint detection and security alerts to identify threats and vulnerabilities
• Respond to and investigate alerts, suspected breaches and network intrusions, and carry out incident response tasks
• Review vulnerability assessments and help mitigate the issues they surface
• Create and work security tickets against defined procedures, and contribute to briefings and reports used in management reviews and compliance audits
• Propose improvements to standard operating procedures and tooling, and partner with IT and product development teams on security operations and risk mitigation
• Help colleagues understand security concepts

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, or 4+ years of equivalent experience in a related field; relevant certifications and non-traditional training count
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking ability, including risk assessment
• Ability to explain complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders
• Keen attention to detail and comfort handling several things at once
• Team player across cross-functional groups

Required skills

• Working knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, applications and security technology concepts
• Hands-on experience with security toolsets: SIEM, IDS/IPS and firewalls
• Preferred: entry-level security certification such as Security+ or CEH, cloud security exposure on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, familiarity with SOC 2, NIST, GDPR, HIPAA or PCI-DSS, and scripting in Python or PowerShell for automation
