Senior Counsel/Director, Stablecoin Enablement

About the role

Mastercard’s Transfer Solutions unit is seeking a Senior Counsel/Director to lead legal support for stablecoin enablement. The role provides proactive, globally coordinated legal guidance to drive product development, ensure responsible innovation, and manage regulatory and commercial risk across the Cross‑Border Services business.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the trusted legal advisor for stablecoin initiatives, delivering practical guidance on regulatory, commercial, product and risk matters.
• Collaborate with product, technology, operations, treasury and commercialization teams to design, develop and launch stablecoin‑enabled solutions that meet customer needs and Mastercard standards.
• Structure, draft and negotiate commercial agreements with financial institutions, fintechs, digital‑asset service providers, infrastructure providers and strategic partners.
• Monitor, interpret and advise on global legal developments affecting digital assets, money movement and payments, shaping internal policy positions.
• Work with regulatory, compliance and competition specialists to identify issues early and navigate risk.
• Develop and maintain legal frameworks, playbooks, templates and approval processes for scalable execution of stablecoin solutions across markets.
• Engage external counsel for jurisdiction‑specific advice and transaction execution as needed.

Required profile

• Extensive legal experience advising on payments, money movement, fintech product development and commercial transactions; experience with digital assets, blockchain infrastructure or money transmission is strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to counsel on multi‑jurisdictional launches, partner risk and operational controls.
• Comfort operating in emerging and evolving areas of law.
