Senior Counsel – Trade Compliance

About the role

This senior‑level in‑house attorney position focuses on global trade compliance. The Senior Counsel will lead trade due‑diligence and restricted‑party screening programs and report to the Senior Director, Trade Compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Set strategy and process for due diligence of customers and suppliers.
• Oversee the company’s restricted‑party screening program.
• Lead the team performing due‑diligence work for global trade.
• Provide programmatic support for trade compliance organization enhancements.
• Design and advise on enhancements for trade compliance policies and operating procedures.
• Develop and deliver trade compliance training for various audiences.
• Assist in M&A and joint‑venture risk assessments, due‑diligence and integration plans.
• Assist in trade‑compliance‑related internal investigations.
• Undertake special projects and support other compliance initiatives.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor degree with 6‑8 years of experience advising multinational businesses on trade compliance, including U.S. export controls and sanctions.
• Ability to work independently, lead a team, and gain trust of business stakeholders.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a proactive approach to complex issues.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for senior executives.
• Passion for compliance work.

• Salary range $177,000 – $243,500 (target total cash) plus bonus and stock award potential.
