Senior Buyer

About the role

The Senior Buyer negotiates the purchase of complex equipment and strategic services within authorized limits, processes purchase requisitions and purchase orders using system software, and seeks optimization, cost reduction, shorter lead times and better product quality. The role also coaches and mentors Associate Buyers and Buyers, and leads complex, customer-focused special projects.

Key responsibilities

• Purchase goods and services using the Procurement operation processes and technology across the enterprise to meet customer needs.
• Review purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy.
• Develop, implement and follow established Procurement policies, procedures and organization structure.
• Manage suppliers, internal costs, quality and delivery performance.
• Drive continuous improvement across the procurement process.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers, the business community and internal customers.
• Stay informed about market trends and product change conditions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance.
• 5 years of buying and procurement-related experience.
• Ability to adapt to changing daily demands and work volumes.
• Effective verbal and written skills with mid to upper-level management, and strong telephone and interpersonal skills.
• Above-average judgment, initiative, problem-solving, collaboration and teamwork.
• Ability to conduct Request for Proposal (RFP) projects.

Required skills

• Knowledge of purchasing terms, concepts, processes and procedures.
• Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
• Helpful: CPM certification.

• Pay range of $56,200 to $94,100 depending on background, experience and location.
