Senior Automation Engineer, Manufacturing Automation

About the role

The Senior Automation Engineer will provide technical support for a wide range of automated systems in manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with GMP, safety and environmental regulations while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead automation activities for new product introductions, new manufacturing capabilities and process optimisation initiatives.
• Provide technical support during equipment start‑up, commissioning, qualification and routine operations.
• Identify and implement improvements to control systems, manufacturing processes and equipment reliability.
• Lead complex troubleshooting of production processes, equipment, automation software and hardware.
• Perform preventive maintenance, backup verification, disaster‑recovery testing and obsolescence management for automation systems.
• Support DeltaV DCS lifecycle management, system monitoring and infrastructure improvements.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, job aids, test protocols and validation documentation.
• Execute automation change controls and manage capital‑project automation activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Automation, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation, IT, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of process automation experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or chemical manufacturing.
• Hands‑on experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS or other distributed control systems.
• Experience supporting GMP‑regulated operations and working within SDLC and change‑management frameworks.

Required skills

• Emerson DeltaV DCS (including Batch applications and ISA‑88).
• PLC, BMS and EMS platforms for utility systems.
• Automation lifecycle management, disaster‑recovery and system administration.
• Root‑cause analysis and troubleshooting of automation hardware/software.
• Commissioning, qualification and startup of manufacturing automation equipment.
