Senior Associate Director – Residence Life

About the role
The Senior Associate Director of Residence Life provides strategic leadership for the on‑campus residential experience of roughly 9,000 students at Texas A&M University. Reporting to the Director of Residence Life, this senior leader oversees residential living, engagement, conduct, emergency response, and summer conference operations.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise senior staff responsible for residence hall and apartment operations, student development initiatives, policy implementation, conduct processes, emergency response, and support services.
- Lead cross‑functional initiatives such as move‑in/move‑out programs, emergency response efforts, summer conference logistics, and partnerships with university departments.
- Support departmental leadership through strategic planning, budgeting, policy development, compliance oversight, assessment, and performance measurement.
- Represent Residence Life on university, state, and national forums; guide students, families, faculty, and staff; contribute to crisis management and institutional committees.
- Manage special projects and operational priorities, providing after‑hours and emergency support to ensure continuity of services.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and nine years of experience in Student Affairs or student housing, with at least five years of supervisory experience.
- Preferred master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, or related field; experience at a large public university.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, work cooperatively with diverse individuals, and communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
- Knowledge of student development theory, housing software applications, budgeting, administration, and facilities management in a university setting.
- Experience with student engagement, behavior management, and live‑in staff operations focused on college housing.
Required skills
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Experience using housing software applications for resident management.
