Senior Application Security Engineer

About the role

Shield AI, a venture-backed defense-tech company, is looking for a Senior Application Security Engineer for its Hivemind Enterprise product. Hivemind Enterprise is an SDK that enables scalable design, deployment, evaluation and iteration of autonomy architectures for robotic platforms, and serves users from AI developers to test engineers. The role sits within the cybersecurity engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Help define application security policies.
• Deploy and configure scanning tools within CI/CD pipelines.
• Review scanning results and work with developers to identify and fix security issues in code.
• Work with the architecture team to design a secure-by-default product, perform threat modeling and validate designs against secure coding standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with about 5+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with about 4+ years, in cybersecurity, software engineering or a closely related field.
• Experience developing or testing secure code.
• Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, configuration management and the software lifecycle.
• Familiarity with threat modeling.
• Experience with software analysis tools such as static analysis, dynamic analysis, dependency mapping and CVE scanning.
• Comfortable working in a Linux development environment.
• Strong organizational, communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Basic understanding of key cryptography concepts.

Preferred qualifications

• Previous experience on an application security team for a large, complex software product.
• DevSecOps experience, especially in a GitLab environment.
• Experience writing or testing Python, C/C++ and/or Go.
• Red-teaming experience and software reverse engineering skills.
