Senior Accountant – Vacation Rental Portfolio (Remote)

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with direct vacation‑rental industry expertise to lead client onboarding and streamline accounting operations for short‑term rental businesses. This fully remote position plays a critical role in customizing workflows and ensuring accurate financial reporting for our growing portfolio of vacation‑rental clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support onboarding of new vacation‑rental clients, setting up accounting systems accurately.
• Customize and streamline accounting workflows tailored to each client’s needs.
• Manage and review financial statements, reconciliations, and month‑end close processes.
• Work with vacation‑rental platforms such as PMS, channel managers, and trust accounting systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry‑specific accounting standards and best practices.
• Identify process improvements and implement scalable accounting solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance efficiency and client experience.
• Serve as a subject‑matter expert for vacation‑rental accounting.

Required profile

• 5+ years of senior‑level accounting experience, preferably in finance or accounting.
• Direct vacation‑rental accounting experience, including trust accounting and owner statements.
• Proven experience onboarding new clients and configuring accounting systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
