Senior Accountant – Supply Chain Accounting

About the role

The Senior Accountant, Supply Chain Accounting provides financial oversight for inventory valuation, purchase price variances, freight costs, inventory reserves, and excess/obsolete inventory management. The role drives month‑end close activities, balance‑sheet reconciliations, and continuous‑improvement initiatives across U.S. and Canadian operations.

Key responsibilities

• Execute month‑end close tasks, prepare and post journal entries, and complete balance‑sheet reconciliations for U.S. and Canadian entities.
• Analyze in‑transit inventory, monitor cost variances, support standard cost maintenance, and review inventory reserves for excess, slow‑moving, and obsolete items.
• Manage weekly freight pay runs, monthly freight accruals, and ensure accurate cost allocations across divisions.
• Partner with Procurement, Supply Chain, AP, and Customer Service to validate vendor rebates, monitor unbilled shipments, and resolve billing delays.
• Support continuous‑improvement projects to reduce close cycle time, resolve systemic accounting issues, and enhance reporting accuracy.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, distribution, or supply‑chain environments.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced setting.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, complex formulas, financial modeling).
• Experience with ERP systems such as M3, D365, Oracle HFM/FCC or similar.
• Proficiency with reporting/analytics tools like Power BI.
• Familiarity with AI tools (Claude, Copilot or similar) for finance functions.
