Senior Accountant (Remote, QBO‑Obsessed)

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Senior Accountant who is deeply fluent in QuickBooks Online (QBO) to take full ownership of client books for a high‑growth fractional CFO firm. You will manage everything from transaction categorisation to the delivery of GAAP‑compliant financial statements for U.S. businesses in beauty, wellness, interior design and other service sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately categorise transactions and reconcile all bank, credit‑card, loan and clearing accounts on a monthly basis.
• Own the month‑end close process for each client, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of financials.
• Prepare GAAP‑compliant P&L, balance sheet and cash‑flow statements, including accruals and adjusting entries.
• Build and refine QBO architecture – charts of accounts, classes, locations and product/service setups – and devise work‑arounds for custom reporting.
• Reconcile payroll provider reports (Gusto, ADP, Paychex) to QBO, handling tips, commissions and benefits.
• Prepare tax‑ready books and year‑end packages for CPA audit readiness.
• Research receipts, vendor details and historical patterns before contacting clients, translating complex queries into plain‑English.
• Document SOPs, identify manual tasks and collaborate on automation solutions.

Required profile

• 3+ years of direct accounting experience for U.S.‑based businesses.
• Active QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification with advanced, hands‑on experience.
• Proven track record preparing GAAP‑compliant financial statements and managing month‑end closes.
• Fluent written and spoken English with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non‑financial clients.
• High attention to detail, systems‑thinking mindset and desire to automate routine processes.

Required skills
