Security Solutions Engineer

About the role

Allied Universal Technology Services, a global security technology provider, is hiring a Solution Engineer in Secaucus, NJ. The engineer creates post-sale security system designs, engineering, value engineering and documentation, working closely with Sales, Solutions Architecture, Operations and customers. The main deliverables are technical drawings, network and installation diagrams, schedules, redlines, functional narratives and as-built documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Create and update post-sale engineering packages covering device locations, IDF/MDF and SOC/GSOC layouts, console designs, installation and riser diagrams and network designs.
• Create and update performance-based and product-based specifications, and pre-fabrication submittal packages for architect and engineer approval.
• Maintain as-built records throughout the project lifecycle and follow-on maintenance work.
• Use and contribute to the library of standard engineering documents, templates and standards, and to project-specific submittals.
• Ensure value engineering by keeping technical compliance while reducing costs.
• Review pre-sale and post-sale proposals for product applicability and specification compliance, and work with product suppliers.
• Apply company installation standards and contribute to internal solutions engineering guidelines.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience designing and engineering electronic security systems.
• Knowledge of security design best practices, including video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, PSIM and systems such as Software House, Lenel, Amag, RS2, DSX and Open Options.
• Ability to work on several large, complex projects at once and to communicate clearly.
• Bachelor's or associate's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent is a plus.

Required skills

• AutoCAD, MS Office, Acrobat Reader and Visio.
• Reading complex architectural and engineering drawings.
• AC and DC circuitry, voltage drop calculations and wire sizing.
• Enterprise IT network and storage design (VMware, Cisco Nexus, NetApp/EMC, Cisco ACE/ASA, Fibre Channel, NFS, iSCSI).

What we offer

• Salary range of $95,000 - $110,000 per year.
