Security Officer - HOA (Unarmed)

About the role

Allied Universal, a security and facility services company, is hiring a full-time, unarmed Security Officer for a homeowners association (HOA) in Chatsworth, California. The role is described as a Security Professional Flex Officer who can pick up shifts through a shift-pickup platform and serves clients in sectors such as healthcare, education and finance. Pay is $20.00 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
• Sound alarms or call the police or fire department in case of fire or unauthorized persons
• Warn violators of rules such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles
• Permit authorized persons to enter, monitor entrances and exits, and observe departing personnel to prevent theft
• Investigate and report accidents, incidents and suspicious activity, keeping written logs as required
• Aid customers, employees and visitors courteously and make emergency notifications as needed

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, or 5 years of verifiable experience; no prior experience required
• At least 18 years old (21 if armed); licensing may be required depending on state and local law
• Valid driver's license if driving a company or customer-owned vehicle
• Subject to a background investigation and a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
• Preferred: prior security, military or law enforcement experience

Required skills

• Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
• Clear oral and written communication, active listening and problem-solving
• Ability to mediate conflict and work as a team
• Preferred: speaking, reading and writing in multiple languages (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic)
