Security Officer – Full‑Time

About the role

The Security Officer protects lives and property on the Millstone Campus and other Jewish Community facilities. This frontline position conducts vehicle and foot patrols, monitors surveillance systems, and provides armed response to incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas, operate surveillance equipment, and inspect buildings, access points, and equipment.
• Enforce traffic control, report irregularities, and request departure of trespassers.
• Prepare detailed incident reports, interview witnesses, and obtain statements.
• Maintain building controls, manage access to locked or sensitive areas, and perform preventive equipment maintenance.
• Provide armed first‑response to criminal threats and support security at community events.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license.
• 3+ years of armed security or public‑safety experience (e.g., corrections, police, military police, or loss‑prevention).
• Ability to obtain and maintain an armed uniform‑exempt Metro Security Officer license and a concealed‑carry permit (or LEOSA status).
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects, work varied shifts, and operate in inclement weather.

Required skills

• Operation of surveillance equipment and video/intrusion/access‑control systems.
• Firearms proficiency and compliance with St. Louis County licensing requirements.
• Strong situational awareness, judgment under uncertainty, and incident‑report writing.
