School Social Worker

About the role

BelovED Community Charter School is hiring a full-time School Social Worker for the 2026-27 school year. The social worker helps students come to school ready to learn through counseling and by connecting them and their families with community resources, and acts as a resource to school leadership and staff on social and emotional health matters. The workplace is on site.

Key responsibilities

• Counsel students and their families to help them adjust to school
• Advise school personnel on social adjustment factors of students at school, home and in the community
• Help students and families find solutions to problems affecting a child's readiness to learn
• Refer parents and guardians to community services or agencies when the school cannot provide help
• Maintain relationships with community agencies serving students' special needs
• Collaborate with the Child Study Team Case Manager as necessary
• Share information with parents about educational planning and programming
• Keep confidential records of referred students and contacts in line with federal and state law
• Provide support to students and staff during crises
• Take part in grade-level and department planning meetings and professional development
• Help with school operations such as hallway supervision, arrival and departure transitions and field trips, and join events outside normal school hours

Required profile

• NJ Department of Education School Social Worker certification (required)
• At least 1-2 years of experience working in a school
