SCADA Operator (Electrical)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a SCADA Operator (Electrical) to support a government contract at Kings Bay, Georgia. The operator works at journeyman level, monitoring electrical transmission, distribution and power generation systems and the SCADA system, with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the electrical systems and SCADA, receive trouble calls and initiate work orders in PWMA and MAXIMO
• Call in craftsperson for repairs on priority and emergency calls outside normal hours, weekends and holidays
• Maintain operational records and logs, and produce operational reports
• During emergencies and natural disasters, oversee information flow, coordinate actions and ensure response plans are followed
• Work with the Duty Manager to ensure key operational matters are performed, communicated and documented
• Dispatch duty electricians, coordinate on-base switching, and coordinate SUBASE and Georgia Power switching
• Remotely start up and shut down emergency generators and perform remote switching and control when requested
• Monitor real-time pricing from Georgia Power and retrieve daily retail kWh prices
• Assist in SCADA PMI, identify malfunctions and report uncorrected ones
• Have a basic understanding of Water/Wastewater and Thermal SCADA systems and understand gas curtailment protocols

Required profile

• High school education or equivalent
• Five years of verifiable experience as a journeyman transmission and/or distribution electrician, including installation, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of energized and de-energized overhead and underground systems
• Working knowledge of transformers, alarm switches, breakers, vacuum breakers and oil circuit breakers
• Ability to quickly diagnose and respond to emergencies with remote or field switching
• Valid state driver's license; US citizenship required for facility credentials at this location
• Subject to a government security investigation and must meet ongoing eligibility requirements

Required skills

• Verifiable working knowledge of personal computers and standard operating systems and office software
• Ability to write procedures and switching orders and to produce reports
• Completion of utility-specific practical factor sheets within 90 days of selection
