RN Supervisor - Surgery ICU - Kings Hwy

About the role

The RN Supervisor provides direct, hands‑on care for critically ill surgical patients while overseeing the nursing team on the ICU unit. This position coordinates patient assessment, treatment planning, and evaluation of nursing interventions, ensuring high‑quality, evidence‑based care.

Key responsibilities

• Organize, plan, supervise, and deliver coordinated patient care within the Surgery ICU.
• Assess risks and benefits of medical interventions and render life‑saving treatment in emergencies.
• Supervise, develop, and evaluate assigned nurses and patient care technicians.
• Promote adoption of nursing protocols and evidence‑based practice guidelines.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and clinical supplies to support daily operations.
• Collaborate with quality, safety, and patient experience leadership to improve outcomes.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a BSN (required for Ochsner Magnet facilities).
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience or 2 years LPN experience in acute care; 2 years RN experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medication actions, interactions, side effects, and calculations.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
• Proficiency with computers, software applications, and web‑based tools.
• Ability to perform medication calculations accurately.
