RN Supervisor – Emergency Medicine (Days)

About the role

The RN Supervisor in Emergency Medicine provides direct patient care while overseeing the nursing team on the day shift. This role evaluates nursing interventions, coordinates care, and serves as a resource for assessment, planning, and problem resolution within the emergency department.

Key responsibilities

• Treat critical injuries, allergic reactions, and trauma while quickly assessing patient needs.
• Organize, plan, supervise, and coordinate patient care across the unit.
• Supervise, develop, and evaluate assigned nurses and patient care technicians.
• Promote adoption of nursing protocols and evidence‑based practice guidelines.
• Manage shift conflicts and collaborate with unit leadership when further action is required.
• Support daily clinical operations by ensuring effective scheduling, staffing, and availability of clinical supplies.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a BSN (required for Ochsner Magnet facilities).
• At least 1 year of RN experience in an acute care setting or 2 years LPN experience.
• Current RN license in the state of practice and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work under high pressure, pay attention to detail, and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong organizational skills, self‑direction, and proficiency with computer software and web‑based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for interaction with patients, staff, and leadership.
