Risk Manager

About the role

David Energy is building a new kind of power company that delivers cheaper, cleaner electricity by leveraging renewable supply and controllable capacity such as distributed batteries. As the company scales its "Beat the Utility" product across the Northeast, it needs a senior Risk Manager to lead and expand its risk management function.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of David Energy’s risk management strategy.
• Create a framework for using controllable capacity (e.g., battery fleet) to manage risk.
• Develop daily position tracking and risk reporting for energy, capacity, RECs, and ancillary services.
• Build and mentor a world‑class risk team as the company enters new markets.
• Perform stress‑case analysis on forward positions and evaluate seasonal hedge strategies.
• Establish risk adders for pricing components and maintain forward cost curves.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in retail energy, energy trading, or energy risk management.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. energy markets (NYISO, ERCOT, PJM, ISO‑NE).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, early‑stage startup.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., physics, mathematics, economics) is a plus.

• Base salary range of $140,000 – $170,000 plus equity.
