RF Bench Technician - Semiconductor Repair

About the role

NXP is looking for an experienced bench technician with strong expertise in semiconductor RF repair to join its Internal Repair Facility in ATMC, Austin. The role covers diagnosing, repairing, modifying, testing and verifying complex electronic and electromechanical equipment at the component level, including RF matchers and generators. It suits someone who can troubleshoot independently in a fast-paced environment and works with advanced test equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair complex automatic and logic-controlled electronic systems at the component level
• Troubleshoot and analyse failures of RF equipment, including matchers and generators
• Modify and test sub-components to meet operational requirements
• Carry out root cause analysis of major equipment malfunctions
• Set up, operate and adjust diagnostic and measurement instrumentation
• Develop or improvise circuits and test setups for unique repair scenarios
• Complete repairs independently with minimal supervision
• Maintain documentation and communicate with internal stakeholders and customers
• Enter data into the internal database

Required profile

• Associate degree in Electronics
• At least 5 years of bench repair experience on matching units and generators (e.g. Advanced Energy, Odyssey)
• Experience in RF theory and AC/DC circuit design
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and follow electrical, mechanical and chemical safety protocols

Required skills

• Analog and digital electronics, circuit design and schematic reading
• RF electronics repair, including RF matchers and generators
• Test equipment: voltage meters, oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, Smith charts
• Soldering: through-hole, surface mount and fine pitch
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Targeted: LabVIEW, Multi-Sim, Cadence or similar, VHDL/Verilog/JTAG, high-power DC supply repair (1kW to 80kW), servo/stepper motor rebuilds
